Kendo

Kendo or ''way of the sword'' the Japanese martial art of fencing. The movements in kendo are different from European fencing because the design of the sword is different, as is the way it is used. Unlike western style fencing, Kendo employs strikes with a defined 'edge' and tip of the shinai. Kendo training is quite noisy in comparison to other martial arts or sports. This is because kendōka use a shout, or kiai, to express their spirit, and when a strike or cut is performed, the front foot contacts the floor in a motion similar to stamping. To win a fight, you must hit your opponent on the head or stab them in the torso, or hit your forearm its a lot more challanging then you might think.

This indicates the protection that the kenjutsu wear.

I went to this kendo tournament knowing absolutely nothing about this mentally grueling sport. I soon learned alot and now appriciate and respect it in all ways. Enjoy the photos.

Graveyard!!!

Spending time Puerto Vallarta, mexico I found this insane graveyard. Its absolutely stunning. The graves are like elaborate statues. The locals spend a lot of time building and putting together their loved ones grave. And not to mention they protect their graveyard with the highest of standards. So when I was shooting there, I respected their rules. But it was definitely worth it.

pelicannn

Alright so my friend Matt and I where walking on the beach and we came across a pelican. That was just chilling on the beach all by itself. Might have been sick. (from drinking the mexican water hahahah) Or just sun bathing, Anyway Matt ran back to the hotel to get the gear. ( which worked out perfectly because Matt has EXTREME A.D.D, and cant sit in one place for more then 3 minutes. ) So when Matt came back we just started snaping away. At first the the pelican was a bit confused, but then he started getting really photogenic. We where probably shooting him for 20 mins or so. I used the 50mm 1.8

Up close and personal.

A little behind scenes action, Just to show you how close, I actually got to this guy.

what it takes to get the shot!!

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been in mexico shooting a ton. Anyway my friend Matt and I where exploring places to shoot. Like we've been doing everyday since we have been here. And we somehow ended up on the roof of my aunts highrise condominium. Well I had to get on the beam that was hanging off the end oF the building to get this shot. So I took control over my huge fear of heights. And went up to the pole sat down took the picture and quickly went to my next shot.

This the behind the scenes of this shot (thanks Matt)

big bear!!

Amazing day up at Big Bear Mountain. I strongly suggest driving up their this time of year. It was snowing and there was ice and snow on the trees and the sun was reflecting on it. It was incredible. Heres an example of what I'm talking about

And when you do end up going their, Because I know you will be... Eat at this place its the most amazing breakfast place I have ever eaten at. Its one of those family owned restaurants that have that very home feeling. My rating * * * * *
