WOW what a crazy day!!!1

Ok, so were do I begin? Well first off, I want to apologize again to Mr. Author (he knows why) So anyways, let me describe this day. Today I was supposed to shoot the 2008 gymnastic superstars. It was all the gold medalist combined into one show. So, I'm driving to the Honda Center in Aneheim, Ca and I'm stuck in traffic the entire time, for about 2 1/2 hours. Finally, I get there and I pull of to the side to call Dustin Snipes. The other photographer Im shooting it with. and so where talking figuring out where to meet. So we can park next to eachother. And this cop pulls me over for being on the phone. But, I was pulled over to the side of the road. And he rights me a ticket. Then I meet up with Dustin, and we enter the media center. And where told we only have 6 minutes to shoot. Now, that is not a lot of time AT ALL. but we shoot it anyway. but for majority of the 6 minutes. It is a friend of mine and his Disney band. We barly shot any gymnastics and had to literly leave after our 6 minutes was up. Here are a couple photos from that day.

Messing around with some homemade lights

So I read a tutorial on DIY lighting techniques on my friend Dustin's website askthephotographer.com and it was an incredible cheap and easy setup. I went to the local hardware store bought 2 clamp dish lights, clamped them onto my kitchen counter, then made a little studio and put 4 white peices of paper and cornered them. Then got a glass of water and dropped in a lime and there you go. The glass wasen't perfect for this experiment but it's cool. if anyone wants more information on how I did this let me know.

2008 Country Wide Classic

Hey everyone, So I shot 3 days of the Countrywide classic and UCLA it is part of the US Open Series so the top players in the world where competing for points to eventually lead them to the US Open. It was a lot of fun, and a great learning experience. I wanted to get different angles and cover the event differently then everyone else. I shot a little bit from the court, but then I found and awesome spot at the top of the stadium. Which gave me clean backgrounds, because when you shoot from the court the backgrounds are really distracting which doesn't make for great photos. Well it was extremely suprising coming across one of my photos on Si.com. Thanks to Iconsportsmedia.com it becomes possible. I have been working on a story with boxer James ''lights out'' Toney. On his upcoming fight against Rahman. It was an Extremely controversial fight. At first, Toney won by a TKO in the 3rd round. Then, a couple weeks later the final vertic was a 'no decition', It was really fun to shoot, I will be posting more soon.

Cross country girls for ESPN Rise mag

So, I was assisting an awesome photographer, Dustin Snipes. The location was extremely hard to get to with all of our gear. We had to climb about a mile up into this mountain behind the school where the girls go. and we found this awesome spot. So we set up, shot the girls, and the last couple photos before the sun went down. Dustin let me snap a couple photos of the girls. The setup was fairly easy. We had one rectangular soft box in front, then 2 sidelights on the sides. fairly easy set up. and awesome results. Just a little quick fact. the girls aren't sprinters, but I had them go in sprinter position anyway.

US OPen of surfing

Hey Everyone this is my second year shooting this event, and this year I learned the spots to shoot from and got way better photos. (if you'd like to compare click here) It was really exciting being there for the the whole day, leading up to the finals. There where tons of people showing support, and an awsome event to shoot.  Here are a couple of my Favorites.

2008 Grand sumo tour

Hey guys, I know I havent blogged in a while. But don't worry I've been shooting more then ever.
