2009 LA Tennis

This event is such a fun event. It's my second year covering it, and I enjoyed it more this time. This event is especially great because there are so many different places to shoot from. You can shoot from above, below, sideways, wherever you want. The people are really nice for the most part. The slideshow below is a couple of my favorite shots through out the week. My favorite match that I covered was the Sampras vs Safin match. It was great to shoot Sampras because he was my idol growing up. Well, Its getting late and I start my Getty internship tommarrow, Goodnight!!

Like A Storm

A couple weeks ago. I shoot the stills for a music video shoot. The band was awesome and there incredibly talented. There called Like a Storm. Keep your eye out for them. Unfortunately I cant release the photos yet, because the video hasn't been released but as soon as I can post a couple I will. I want to thank a couple people for giving me this opportunity. Thank you to Mike, Jordan, Igor, Deb, and the band. I really appreciate it.

Los Angeles Marathon.

A couple weeks ago, I got the opportunity to shoot the LA Marathon with extremely talented photographer Dustin Snipes. We where credentialed to shoot on the media bus. You might be thinking Wow that must be awesome. Ya it was awesome, EXEPT for this one chick that was on the bus with us. She was the most negative obnoxious woman I have ever meet. She would complain the whole time. Saying things like " I cant make one fucking frame on this bus." or "mark my words this is that last time I shoot from a fucking bus." I literally felt like throwing her off. Oh and the worst part, I really think she put itching powder down my pants. Because as soon as i got off the bus, and she was standing right behind me. My pants started itching like CRAZYYYYY. Idk knowone will ever know. Enjoy the photos.

Great news

I just wanted to share with everyone that I got a paid internship with Getty Images. For those of you who don't know who Getty images is. 1) you need to get out more, and open a magazine. 2) there the biggest photo publication company in the world. Im so excited to start working with them and talking with some of the best photographers in the world. Its going to be a great learning experience.

Kay-l

WOW, it's been too long. Sorry about the lack of posting lately. Don't worry I have been incredibly busy shooting tons of stuff. Anyway, this last week I shoot an awesome up and coming rapper from St. louis Kay-l. He has a new hit single out thats awesome and getting a lot of play on the radio. The shoot was supposed to be at a mansion in Beverly Hills, with cars and the whole bit. But things feel through. So Jubo his manager found this awesome little place in santa monica that worked great. (big thanks to Jubo for finding this location). During the shoot we did 3 setups. The stairs are my personal favorite. (Also, want to thank Corey for helping me on the shoot.) We also did a behind the scenes type of video. thats coming soon as well. keep tight.

FML Series

Whats up guys. Sorry for the lack of post lately, I have been incredibly busy. Anyway, I'm starting this new " weekly series" called FML. its based of the website Fmylife.com which is a site where people share real life stories that have happened to them. It's a very funny website, and makes you feel a lot better about yourself. Haha just kidding. The basis of the series is to take an written narration of a piece on Fmylife.com, and turn it into a visual piece. The photo below is the first shoot I did in the series, come back next week for another image. Enjoy!!

"Today, I came home to find a sock I previously used to whack off on my bed with googly eyes and a mouth drawn on it with a note that read "because you can't find a real girl I made your current one prettier, Love Mom." FML

P.S in order to understand the photo you must read the FML quote that goes along with it. And, yes I realized this is a self portrait.

Stage 7- Amgen tour of California

What's up guys?! This weekend was a lot of fun, I shot the 2009 Tour of California! It was real cool seeing the legend himself, Lance Armstrong, ride right past me with a camera in my hand. It was nice to see how much publicity that was behind him, And how much support their was. This particular year I was going for the more scenic shots, although I understood the risk of having only ten seconds or so to try and capture a nice frame. I drove 2/3 of the entire route to find a scenic spot with some good action. I found an amazing spot where if I looked one way I got the scene of the event, in which the riders would ride around a loop and then come past me for the tight action shots that I captured from above.Literally there was only about 20 seconds of shooting. Next year I have hopes of getting on a media motorcycle to cover the event throughout the week. I will have more opportunities and more time to get great photos. Well it's late and I am tired, enjoy!

Hey guys, Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I'm working on 2 upcoming projects that are going be awesome. Can't wait to show you. Anyway, last week I shoot a pepperdine/ Loyola game. It was alright, the lighting was pretty bad and it was hard to find a spot with clean backgrounds. Other then that it was fun. Here are a couple photos from the game.

First Gallery Opening

A couple weeks ago. I had my first showing at a gallery in Hollywood, CA. It was about the protest on Prob 8. The gallery was completely dedicated to 'no on prob 8'. There were many protest going on in California after the law was rejected against gay marriage. So Christina (my documentary partner) Megan, Matt and I grabbed our cameras and started to shoot. Christina shoots video, while I shoot stills. Anyway we made a multimedia piece out of it. (I'll try to get that up later). The multimedia piece was playing at the gallery, then I had 2 of my shots hanging in the gallery. It was a lot of fun and a great turnout. I shot pictures at the gallery of everything going on, but unfortunately i misplaced the CF card so I just posted the photos that where hung up. Enjoy!!!

CIty of Angels (Puerto Vallarta style)

I just got home from PV tonight, I can't sleep, so I decided to edit some of the photos from my shoot there. Last year, my friend Matt and I went to PV and discovered some pretty cool spots and came up with some cool ideas for the next year. This is one of the ideas we came up with. We wanted a girl with angel wings to be sitting on the edge of a building looking out at all of PV and being the "gaurdian angel" of PV. This year I happen to have gone with my girlfriend Megan, it worked out great. we brought the lights, some angel wings and a camera. Im happy with the turnout. Happy NEW YEAR!!!!!!

GLAMIROCK PROMO SHOOT

WOW what a fun weekend. First, I shot the Toney fight. Then, I get this awesomely fun promo shoot for Nacolibe. She is an insanely talented musician and knows exactly what she wants, which is awesome. It was also a ton of fun. Alright well I'm going to sleep. Goodnight world!!!!

James "Lights Out" Toney -vs- Fres Oquendo

Wow what a great night. I was Toney's personal photographer. It was very interesting to shoot, because over the past couple months I have seen how hard James has been training. To watch it all come through in the end was fascinating. I put together a little slide show of my favorite shots from the beginning of the day till the very end. It was an extremely close fight, but Toney won in the 12th round by split decision. Enjoy!!
